Embracing the Eclectic
I’ve always had a passion for unique interior design and artistic, highly personalized spaces. As an intellectual property attorney, I lived in New York City representing clients in the arts and entertainment industry and was the “suit” behind the creatives. Living in downtown NYC in the late 1990’s most definitely influenced my vibrant industrial grunge aesthetic. I was fortunate to be surrounded by artists, writers, designers, and photographers and that creative influence stayed with me as I moved to a quieter life in Northern Virginia.
Now as an artist, everything feels like a canvas. I find myself inexplicably drawn to discarded materials like furniture and architectural salvage and artistically upcycling them into something exciting. By searching through vintage shops, salvage warehouses, and even thrift stores I can find unusual, often one of a kind, furniture and home decor. I love turning over the possibilities of how an artistic approach can give a forgotten item an exciting new identity that makes it a valued statement piece in someone’s home.
The name “Mood Lemon Studio” came from the idea of mood boosting color combined with the resilient theme of “turning lemons into lemonade.” Where some people see junk, I like to see art with a new purpose.
